🎵 April 2025
Four months gone.
Eight months left in 2025.
Klamath Falls, Oregon 2018

On Monday, I found this photograph in my library to serve as April’s playlist cover, and I’m so baffled it was snapped seven years ago. We were scouting Klamath Falls for our movie PHOENIX, OREGON which feels more like…four years ago? Covid 19 really did infiltrate and impact three years of our lives.
Time is humbling. It continues to play with my mind — especially on Mondays, when I generally try to reset my intentions and stare down the next seven days laid out in front of me.
The legendary UCLA basketball coach John Wooden used to tell his players, ‘Yesterday is gone — it’ll never change. Tomorrow is yet to be. How can you affect tomorrow? By today — that’s the only possible way. The only way you’re going to affect the future is by what you do today. Make each day your masterpiece.’ 🏀

Music releases tend to mark time for me in profound ways — and last month was no different.
Adrianne Lenker’s i do love you is from her brand new live release — culled from an intimate pair of shows at Revolution Hall in Portland. The LP is stirring and alive, and even includes doc-style soundcheck material and audible audience participation.
A surprise track — Suddenly — appeared like a dream two Fridays ago. It’s from the forthcoming album LUMINAL from Beatie Wolf and Brian Eno. ❤️ Can’t wait for that LP on the sixth of June.
Craig Finn’s record ALWAYS BEEN has been with me a month now, and his story-song Postcards makes a beautiful six minute appearance.
Also landing in the April bin are new tracks from Wu Lyf, Maria Somerville, Pulp, Haim, Weatherday, Turnstile, Arcade Fire, Lana Del Rey and probably my favorite downtempo artist Random Rab.
Over the years, Rab has been so kind to license several cool tracks to me for use in PHOENIX, OREGON and ABOVE THE TREES. His new single Void Sifter is moody and terrific.
Hope you all enjoy your week, wherever you might be at in life today — another opportunity to make this new day your masterpiece. I also hope you enjoy the April playlist and continue supporting the artists you love.
